Concho is a six to eight-week program where participants engage with each other, staff, and volunteers and also get hands-on with their assigned horses. They learn the ins and outs of horsemanship with experienced professionals at Colorado State University’s Temple Grandin Equine Center. No horse experience necessary!
Each weekly session lasts approximately two hours and emphasizes:

Those wishing to apply must be currently working with an outpatient mental health clinician and be:
Between the ages of 13-23
A proficient English speaker
Experiencing stress, anxiety, suicidal ideation, or complicated grief (based on PHQ/GAD/Columbia/CAMS assessments)
Open to new experiences
Individuals in active crisis, who have a felony criminal record, or have a history of aggression, high trauma, animal abuse, or threats against others are not eligible for this program.
